Almost two years ago, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. My A1c was an alarming 12.4, and my blood sugar had reached nearly 350.
I knew something had to change.
In just six months, I brought my A1c down from 12.4 to 5.4 through major lifestyle changes, a strict low-carb diet, daily walking, and working with my doctor.
In this episode of Bob’s Two Cents, I’m sharing my personal diabetes journey, the challenges of being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, what I changed about my eating habits, and how I’ve worked to keep my blood sugar under control.
I’ll talk about my hybrid carnivore approach, losing approximately 35 pounds, managing carbohydrates, and learning to enjoy food while maintaining a healthier lifestyle.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO DENNIS POLLOCK — BEAT DIABETES
One of the most helpful resources I discovered was Dennis Pollock’s YouTube channel, Beat Diabetes. His videos provided a roadmap that made a tremendous difference in my journey.
If you’re facing your own diabetic challenges, I encourage you to explore his work.

My biggest takeaway?
Getting my A1c from 12.4 to 5.4 took about six months. Maintaining those results is a lifelong commitment.
I’m not claiming to have cured diabetes. I still take metformin and continue working with my doctor. This is simply my personal experience, and everyone’s diabetes journey is different.
If you’re living with Type 2 diabetes, newly diagnosed, or struggling with blood sugar management, I hope my story offers some encouragement.
I’d love to hear from you!
