In this one we break down how to fabricate settings using raw materials resulting in beautiful but easy silver rings! I am preparing to run a booth at the upcoming Gem and Mineral show and needed to make some rings anyway, so I figured it was a perfect time to show the simple ways I've found to make custom settings for the cabochons that I make. We set 2 Montana agate cabochons, a Malachite cab, and a stunning fire agate that was a gift from a friend. I hope this helps anyone if they are looking to get into silversmithing or fabricating their own settings, or just get some entertainment out of watching me work....if you're into that sort of thing. I have some awesome projects coming very soon and I can not wait to share them with you all! I am running a booth at the Billings Gem and Mineral Show at the Billings Hotel & Convention Center August 3rd-6th, and am doing a Meet and Greet August 4th from 11:30 a.m.- 12:30! Here is a link to the event page; even if you don't think you can make it in person, selecting "interested" on the event page is a massive help for me that is greatly appreciated! I hope to see all of you there, and Rock on!   / 301323585572923   Check out my other channel where I post weekly, Theo Kellison!:    / @theokellison   Follow me on Instagram!: Instagram:   / sticksandstones406   I buy all of my silver and supplies from Rio Grande and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking to get into the world of silversmithing! I was PLANNING on putting links to all of the essentials but my computer won't load soooooo I'll have to come back and do that later. But in the meantime here is what you need to get started and what I'd recommend, the bare minimum requirements are going to be Silver sheet(backplate, 22 gauge 6"x1" is a good place to start), Silver strip(also known as bezel wire, I usually use 1/8"x.13" and it goes REAL quick so get like 3 or 4 feet at least), Silver half round or round wire(This will be your Band, I prefer half round because its easy and I'd recommend 10 gauge to get started), Silver solder(I recommend getting easy, medium, AND hard but you can certainly get by with just medium. Solder is your BIGGEST essential; buy a lot of it!), and flux paste(this allows the solder to flow). I know it sounds like a lot, but with these increments, you can EXTREMELY affordably get enough silver to make quite a few settings without spending very much! https://www.riogrande.com/ #rings #jewellery #silver
