Sounds simple—until every badge, bullet, and goon in the Southwest decides they want both of them dead. What follows is peak 1970s Eastwood mayhem: crooked cops, mob thugs, biker trash, an incompetent helicopter sniper, and a heroine whose talent for verbal abuse could peel paint off a battleship. Sure, the movie has its unintentional comedy—like a sniper who couldn’t hit a parked blimp, or an entire police force that somehow can’t stop a bus puttering along at retirement-home speeds. And yes, the script occasionally wanders into clunky “tough girl power” moments that feel like they were jammed in with a tire iron. But when the smoke clears, 'The Gauntlet' is pure, unfiltered entertainment: Eastwood growling, shooting, bleeding, and plowing through Phoenix like a pissed-off bulldozer. Explosions? Check. Shootouts? Check. Chase scenes? Plenty. A gorgeous, sharp-tongued co-star who keeps Clint’s fuse lit? Absolutely.
