Nina, 35, travels alone through southern Spain to scatter her ex-husband’s ashes at a place she can no longer find—discovering along the way that getting lost is sometimes the truest path forward. DIRECTOR’S NOTE: Recalculando is an exploration of grief, the illusion of digital control, and the quiet beauty of letting go. After two decades directing and producing commercials, making Recalculando entirely with generative AI tools was a return to tactile, poetic storytelling. While most AI cinema gravitates toward futuristic spectacle, I wanted to do the opposite: use generative technology as an intimate lens for a quiet, grounded European road movie combining classical narrative road-movie aesthetics with cutting-edge visual technologies, capturing the raw textures of Andalusia’s Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean coast.
