Back to Sisteron - St. Geniez in Assetto Corsa Rally v0.6 for a second attempt with the Lancia Delta HF Integrale under rapidly changing snow-blizzard conditions.
There was also a very good reason to repeat this run.
My previous attempt unfortunately ended up with no in-game sound due to a technical issue, forcing me to use background music instead. And as someone who definitely belongs to the group of petrolheads who wants to hear the car, I couldn't leave it like that.
So here we go again, same car, same stage, same evolving weather concept, but this time with the Delta soundtrack included!
🔊 This Time We Have Engine Sound!
The first run was still worth publishing because it demonstrated exactly what I wanted from the experiment: starting on dry asphalt and, using 10x time acceleration, experiencing the stage transform as a snow blizzard gradually covered the road.
But something important was missing.
The sound.
For me, hearing the engine, transmission and everything the car is doing is a huge part of the experience. Background music simply can't replace that.
So this second run was necessary.
☀️➡️🌨️ Dry Asphalt to Snow Again
The concept remains the same.
I start Sisteron - St. Geniez on dry asphalt, while 10x time acceleration rapidly progresses the weather and road conditions.
As the run continues, the snow becomes heavier, visibility changes and the road gradually becomes covered.
By the later part of the stage, I'm effectively driving under completely different conditions from those at the start.
This unpredictability is exactly why I enjoy using accelerated time.
Instead of knowing precisely what grip I'll have throughout the entire stage, I have to continually adapt as the conditions develop.
🔥 Much More Commitment This Time
Having already experienced these conditions once made the second attempt considerably less dramatic.
I knew more about what to expect, made a small setup adjustment and was able to attack with much more confidence.
The result was a significantly more committed run and a much better stage time.
There's still plenty of time left on the table, though.
As I approached the final part of the stage and conditions became increasingly difficult, I deliberately backed off slightly. After putting together a much stronger run, there was no reason to throw everything away by crashing just before the finish.
Sometimes you have to know when enough is enough.
🇮🇹 Learning the Integrale in Changing Conditions
The biggest difference between the two attempts was confidence.
During the first run I spent much more time discovering how the changing surface affected the Delta and therefore reduced my commitment considerably.
This time I already had that experience.
Combined with the small setup change, I could push harder and spend more time attacking rather than simply trying to understand what the road was doing.
And there's still more to find.

🏁 Conclusion
The first attempt demonstrated the concept.
The second one was about actually attacking it.
Knowing how the stage would evolve, combined with a small setup adjustment, allowed me to drive with considerably more commitment and produce a much better time.
I still backed off slightly toward the end rather than risk throwing the entire run away, so there's definitely more time available.
Most importantly, though:
This time you can actually hear the Lancia! 😄
Because a Delta HF Integrale attacking Monte Carlo through a snow blizzard deserves something better than background music.
There will definitely be more experiments with changing weather and accelerated time. Starting a rally stage in one condition and finishing it in another creates exactly the kind of unpredictability I want from rally simulation.
Dry asphalt → snow blizzard.
More commitment → better time.
And this time → engine sound! 🔊
Never Give Up.
