Ghana’s Forests and Carbon Finance: The Road to TREES Certification

Ghana is the first country in Africa to have its REDD+ results for TREES certification. This video looks at what that process has meant in practice. It covers the Forestry Commission’s work behind the scenes, the systems for measuring and reporting emissions reductions, MRV, safeguards and Benefit sharing, and the farmers and communities near the Atewa Range who have taken part in the process for close to two decades. The film also looks at the pressures Ghana faces at the same time, including illegal mining, agricultural expansion and wildfires.
