How do you know if a thought was really from God — or simply your own desire, fear, emotion, or imagination? Sometimes something can feel incredibly strong. Attraction can feel strong. Fear can feel strong. Desire can feel strong. Peace can feel strong. But intensity does not prove the source. In Part 4 of God Still Speaks, we look at practical, biblical ways to discern what we believe God may be saying. In this teaching we talk about: whether it agrees with Scripture why a good idea is not always God’s instruction how our own desires can become very loud why “God told me” should never be used to pressure another person the value of confirmation and wise counsel why time is a friend of discernment why peace alone is not enough the fruit a word or impression produces and perhaps most importantly: can I surrender the outcome back to God? I also share the story of meeting Rommy at Bible school — and how attraction, prayer, confirmation, time and surrender all became part of learning to recognize God’s leading.
