Pragati College of Education, Siliguri celebrated its 16th Foundation Day on 30th August 2026 at Rabindra Manch, Shaktigarh, with great enthusiasm, grandeur and fervour. The celebration brought together the management, faculty members, students, parents and distinguished guests for an evening of culture, creativity and togetherness.
The programme commenced with the collective singing of “Vande Mataram”, followed by a soulful Sāmaveda recitation. The anchors then welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the occasion. The formal inauguration of the programme was marked by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the distinguished guests.
The celebration was graced by the presence of several esteemed dignitaries, whose participation added great significance to the occasion. The distinguished guests included Shri Ambarish Bhattacharya, School Inspector (Primary), Siliguri-Darjeeling; Shri Santanu Sarkar, Assistant Inspector of Schools (Secondary), Siliguri; Shri Naresh Sarkar, Assistant Inspector of Schools (Secondary), Siliguri; Prof. Dr. Kanti Lal Das, Founder President, NBPA, and Professor, Department of Philosophy, North Bengal University; Smt. Sanchita Deb, Headmistress, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Girls’ High School (H.S.), Siliguri; Smt. Debjani Bardhan, Headmistress, Matigara Balika Vidyalaya (High School); Shri Hemant Sharma, Headmaster, Dr. I. B. Thapa Nepali Vidyalaya; Shri Ganesh Gajmer, Head of the Institution, Paramananda Nepali High School, Mahismari, Champasari, Siliguri; and Shri Hemant Kumar Narjinary, Headmaster, Margaret S.N. English School.
The Principal, Dr. Biswajit Biswas, addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech, reflecting upon the institution’s journey and its continued commitment to excellence in teacher education. His address highlighted the institution’s achievements, values and vision for the future.
The cultural programme that followed was a vibrant celebration of talent and cultural diversity. Students presented a wide range of captivating performances, including Nepali Group Dance, Santhali Dance, Bihu Dance, Western Dance, Group Song, Skit, Ramp Walk and a lively Boys’ Lazy Dance Performance. Each presentation reflected the students’ creativity, dedication, teamwork and the tireless guidance and encouragement of their teachers.
The Band Performance at the end of the programme was one of the major highlights of the evening and received an enthusiastic response from the audience. The celebration concluded on a deeply emotional note with the song “Maa”, presented as a heartfelt tribute to all caregivers. The performance beautifully expressed the students’ gratitude, love and affection towards those who nurture, guide and support them.
The programme also witnessed an overwhelming turnout of parents, who came together, to encourage and witness their children’s performances. Their enthusiastic participation and support made the celebration even more meaningful and memorable.
The successful celebration was a result of the collective efforts of the students, teachers, staff, parents, and distinguished guests. Their dedication, cooperation and active participation contributed immensely to the smooth and successful conduct of the programme.
At the conclusion of the programme, refreshments were served to all the guests and participants.
