AM advantages can be clustered into design and supply chain innovations: The design innovations benefit from the possible complexity of parts which AM can manufacture up to a level were conventional production technologies are not able to compete. AM also enables to designers to consolidate multiple parts into one which saves a lot of time and decreases weakpoints from joining parts.
