Elden Ring: Castle Sol, Secret Medallion & Road to Haligtree - Episode 78

Hi everyone, it’s me, FacelessNobody. I invite you to sit next to me and play Elden Ring together - one of my favorite games. I’ve already beaten this game a few times, so I can share some tips with you during our journey. In this episode, we make some pretty decent progress. First, we finally clear Castle Sol. At the end, we fight Commander Niall, and after dealing with him and his lovely collection of summoned knights, we finally get the second half of the Haligtree Secret Medallion. That means the path to the hidden part of the Mountaintops and eventually to Malenia is finally open. But before going there, we decide to hang around the regular Mountaintops a little longer and finish a few things we missed. First, we cross an invisible bridge leading toward Heretical Rise, where we find another sorcery. Because apparently walking across something you can’t even see is completely normal in Elden Ring. After that, we visit a nearby Minor Erdtree and fight another Erdtree Avatar. The fight goes pretty well until the very end. We land the killing blow while the Avatar is casting its explosion attack. I thought killing the boss would cancel the spell. Turns out I was wrong. So the Avatar dies. We die. Everybody dies. A beautiful fairy-tale ending. After that, we meet Brother Corhyn again, exhaust his dialogue, and make sure his journey with Goldmask continues. With all of that done, we finally use the secret medallion and enter the Consecrated Snowfield. There, we first explore the Hidden Path to the Haligtree. This place has another invisible bridge that leads to a hidden section of the dungeon, because apparently one invisible bridge per episode wasn’t enough. Eventually, we reach the boss room and fight a Stray Mimic Tear. So once again, our greatest enemy is ourselves. Fortunately, this version of us doesn’t last very long. After clearing the dungeon, we rush toward the final missing map fragment. And with that, we finally uncover the entire map of Elden Ring. Man, this game is huge. Then we make our way toward Ordina, Liturgical Town, the place that hides the portal to Miquella’s Haligtree. This is also where that Sentry’s Torch we bought near Leyndell finally becomes useful, because it allows us to see the invisible Black Knife Assassins hunting us through the town. We light all four candles, break the seal, and finally activate the portal. And after such a long journey, we arrive at Miquella’s Haligtree.
