The State tells the jury Leigha Mumby made choices at 94 miles an hour and the crash was all driver. The defense answers that something happened.
This is the Dying Last Words Trial: State of Florida v. Leigha Mumby, in Flagler County. On Super Bowl night 2025, Daniel Waterman, 22, was riding with his girlfriend Leigha Mumby when her car left I-95. He died on October 8, 2025. She is charged with reckless driving causing serious bodily injury and vehicular homicide, and is presumed innocent. Day 2: closings from prosecutor Melissa Clark and defense attorney Reid Hart, then the judge's instructions.
What I'm watching: same black box data, opposite answers. The judge says reckless takes more than a failure to use ordinary care. Does one turn of the wheel at 94 meet that? We're not the jury; only the jurors decide.
