Winter Kingfish Carnage | Bay of Islands

We were on the water before first light for an epic mission chasing kingfish! 🎣 I headed out with my good mate Leith with one goal in mind – find some bait and get stuck into the kings using live baits and stick baits. As soon as we reached our spot, the bait schools were already working on the surface, so we quickly loaded up on live baits and dropped one straight back down under the work-ups. It didn’t take long before the action kicked off! Once we found the fish, it was nonstop excitement with kingfish smashing our live baits and exploding on topwater lures. We spent the day catching, releasing, and enjoying some awesome battles before deciding to keep a couple for the table. To finish off an epic day, we headed home with fresh kingfish in the bin and fired up the smoker to turn our catch into some delicious smoked kingfish.
