Can We Escape Death by Leaving Earth? | Quran, Space & the Last Day

What if humanity eventually leaves Earth and builds permanent settlements on the Moon or Mars? Would moving to another world allow us to escape the limits of life and death? This Islamic documentary explores the fascinating question through the Quran, space exploration and modern cosmology. We begin with NASA’s Voyager spacecraft and the Golden Record, humanity’s attempt to send a message from Earth into deep space. From there, we examine the dream of becoming a multiplanetary civilization and ask a much deeper question: can changing planets change the human condition? The Quran states in Surah An Nisa, Ayah 78 that wherever people may be, death will overtake them. Surah Ar Rahman, Ayah 33 also speaks about jinn and humanity passing beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth only by Allah’s authority. And Surah Al Furqan, Ayah 25 describes a Day when the heaven will split open with clouds and angels will descend. But this documentary does not treat these verses as scientific equations or claim that modern cosmology has proven the Quran. Instead, we examine what the verses actually say, what their context suggests, what classical interpretation means for the question, and what modern science can and cannot tell us about the ultimate fate of the universe. The more humanity reaches into space, the more profound the question becomes: are we escaping Earth, or simply discovering how small our world really is?
