Altdorf had always been a city of bells.
They rang for weddings.
For coronations.
For feast days.
For soldiers returning home.
And then one night, they began to ring for war.
“The Bells of Altdorf” is a Warhammer Fantasy fan song about the final hours of the Empire’s capital, told through the bells that watch the city change from living heart of the Empire into a burning battlefield.
At first, the bells warn the streets.
Then they rally the defenders.
Then they mourn the dead.
And as tower after tower falls silent, one battered bell keeps ringing above the smoke.
“RING THE BELLS OF ALTDORF!”
Not because the walls are holding.
Not because victory is certain.
But because somewhere below, someone still needs to hear that the city is alive.
The song follows an old bell-ringer who has spent his life hearing those towers mark every joy and sorrow of Altdorf.
Now he watches them disappear one by one.
And still he pulls the rope.
“As long as one bell answers,
We are not alone.”
By dawn, almost everything is gone.
The streets are shattered.
The towers are broken.
The Reik runs beneath a skyline of smoke and ash.
But one bell remains.
Cracked.
Weak.
Beautiful.
And somewhere below...
someone cheers.
This is an unofficial Warhammer Fantasy fan work inspired by Altdorf, the Empire, Sigmar, and the final days of the Old World.
The world may have ended.
The songs haven’t.
