A judge denied his stand-your-ground immunity claim on Feb. 12, 2025. On Jan. 21, 2026, a Monroe County jury found him guilty of first-degree murder, and on Feb. 26, 2026 he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. His attorneys have said they will appeal.
