300 metres below the North Atlantic there is no light — and a Canadian machine is mapping the ocean floor down there to 3 centimetres of detail. No crew. No windows. No lights. Travelling at 10 knots in total darkness, building an image so sharp you can tell a rock from a mine without sending a human diver down to look. This is the story of Kraken Robotics — a company from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland that solved a physics problem the world's biggest defence giants couldn't, and is now sitting inside more than 30 different uncrewed underwater vehicle platforms worldwide. Canada invents it. Somebody else usually owns it. Clearpath went to Rockwell. Attabotics went bankrupt. This time, something different happened. Should Canada be selling this technology to the world, or should the best of it stay home? Tell me in the comments — I read them all.
