Ten Christmas candies, three ingredients each, with no candy thermometer, no oven and no mixer, and the pan and the minutes for every one, from my book Box, Can & Butter: menakitchen.com (type it in)
The old fudge cards say "cook to soft-ball stage," and I once watched a whole pot go grainy in the church hall. So these ten melt in the microwave or in one pot on low, and set in the refrigerator or on the counter. For each one I give you the pan, the minutes and how long it sets, because that's what's missing from half the recipes you find online. I also tell you which ones keep a week in the tin and which ones need the refrigerator.

If you want more like these, Box, Can & Butter has 120 old-fashioned desserts, three ingredients each, with the pan and the time on every page. There's a whole chapter of candies for the Christmas tin. Give it 30 days. If it doesn't earn a spot next to your oven, write me and you'll get every penny back. Go to menakitchen.com or tap the first link under this video.
A few notes: melted chips and sugar get hotter than they look, so keep little hands back and don't taste anything until it's cool. The candies with cream cheese keep 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator. Some contain peanuts and milk, so label the tin. If you have questions about sugar or allergies, ask your doctor.
Tell me: who did you fill Christmas tins with, and what went in them? I read every comment.
