Joey has a friend who decides whether to hire somebody, invest with them or do business with them by watching one thing. Not how they treat him. How they treat the valet. In this issue Joey uses that test to get at something we misunderstand about wealth: it was never built on the car, the clothes or the number in the account. It's built on relationships, and on who you are when there's nothing to gain. In this video, Joey Klein breaks down: • The Porsche Joey had specially built, the bow Caitlyn insisted on, and the mugs that came with it (and why the mugs have had far more use than the car) • The false perceptions we carry about wealthy people (ruthless, taking advantage, sacrificing relationships to make money) and about what wealth looks like (private jets, exotic cars, designer clothes) • Two ways relationships are the foundation of wealth: fulfillment (how wealthy are you if your marriage is fractured and your closest friendships have disappeared?) and the literal one (almost nobody builds anything significant alone) • What wealth actually is: the environment you've created with the resources you have that allows you to wake up and love the life you're living • The Valet Test: why Joey's friend watches how people treat the valet, the clerk, the waiter and the homeless person they walk past, not how they treat him • Why somebody who is discourteous to the waiter and warm to you has already shown you who they are, and what to expect the day you're no longer useful to them • You don't get to choose who deserves your character: the standard that doesn't change whether the person across from you is responsible for a hundred-million-dollar deal or parking the car • Money amplifies who you already are, and why the person in the flashy car is often living on debt while somebody in the top one percent looks like a normal person • Why the game of wealth doesn't start with "what investment should I make?" but with "who is the person I need to be?", and the catch: you can't treat people well so that opportunity comes This is not an argument against nice things. Joey is clear the car is fun and he enjoys it. It's an argument for not confusing the appearance of wealth with wealth itself, or money with a wealthy life. 🤔 QUESTION OF THE DAY: What has somebody's treatment of a waiter, a clerk or a valet told you that the big meeting didn't? 🔗 RESOURCES MENTIONED: 👉 Issue 028, Listen to Their Actions:    • My Disappointment Wasn't Coming From Them   👉 Issue 030, Your Most Important Investment:    • Nobody Talks About What Happens After You ...   👉 The Connection Fix on the Blog: https://joeyklein.com/the-connection-fix 👉 The Connection Fix Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/3oMvTF6... 👉 The Connection Fix (full playlist):    • The Connection Fix   👉 Subscribe to The Connection Fix: https://theconnectionfix.com Every week, The Connection Fix delivers practical frameworks for navigating the Connection Crisis, rebuilding your relationship with yourself so you can show up fully for the people who matter most. 🔍 TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 A Porsche, a bow and a couple of mugs 1:02 The people before the car ever arrived 1:28 Real wealth is built on relationships 2:24 Fulfillment: how wealthy are you? 3:12 Almost nobody builds anything significant alone 4:06 The Valet Test 5:34 The standard doesn't change 6:51 Money amplifies who you already are 7:33 The appearance of wealth vs wealth itself 8:32 Who do you need to be? 10:12 One question to sit with 10:41 Other ways to engage #joeyklein, #theconnectionfix, #wealth, #character, #buildingwealth, #kindness
