Irish Session Play-Along – Faster | Maid Behind the Bar, Drowsy Maggie & more | Sheet Music + Chords

Welcome to Tune Time! 🎶 I came to Irish traditional music later in life, and one thing I always wished for was a friendly, low-pressure way to practise the session favourites with a band behind me – at a speed I could actually keep up with, and with the music right there in front of me. I couldn't find it, so I made it. This channel is that resource, for anyone learning trad – whatever your instrument, whatever your age. This is a full play-along session: 8 sets of popular Irish tunes (18 tunes) with a céilí band backing (piano, guitar, bass, bodhrán, flute, whistle, concertina, banjo, mandolin, harp and more). The sheet music and chords are on screen the whole way through, with a dot showing you exactly where you are. Every tune is played twice through, and there's a short countdown before each set so you can get ready. Finding this a bit quick? There's a Slower version of this session on the channel: same tunes, same band, at a gentler pace. Once you're comfortable there, come back and try this one. Grab your instrument, pick a set or play the whole session, and most of all – have fun. There's no audience and no pressure here: miss a note, drop out, jump back in. That's how everyone learns. 🎵 THE SETS 0:00 Welcome to Tune Time 0:05 Jigs – The Humours of Glendart / Saddle the Pony / Tobin's Favourite 3:29 Polkas – Ballydesmond Polka #1 / Ballydesmond Polka #2 / Ballydesmond Polka #3 6:26 Hornpipes – The Harvest Home / Kitty's Wedding 10:06 Mazurkas – John Doherty's Mazurka / Vincent Campbell's Mazurka 12:40 Slip Jigs – Ryan's Slip Jig / The Kid on the Mountain 15:48 Reels – The Maid Behind the Bar / The Mountain Road / Drowsy Maggie 18:33 Waltz – Fanny Power 21:12 Slides – Johnny Mickey's Slide / Dingle Regatta Chords on screen are the ones the backing band plays.
