Along the way, we once again cross the spectacular Burzil Pass, standing at approximately 13,800 feet, before continuing towards Gorikot and eventually reaching the beautiful Tarishing Valley. Burzil Pass is not only known for its dramatic landscapes and high-altitude scenery, but also for its historical importance. For centuries, it was part of an old route connecting the Kashmir region with Gilgit and was used by traders, travelers and caravans crossing these remote mountains. From Gorikot, our journey takes us towards Tarishing, a peaceful mountain settlement and one of the gateways to the legendary Rupal Valley. Tarishing holds a special place in the mountaineering world because it provides access to the southern side of Nanga Parbat, the world's 9th-highest mountain at 8,126 metres (26,660 ft). From Tarishing and Rupal Valley, trekkers and mountaineers can make their way towards the Rupal Base Camp, also known as the Herrligkoffer Base Camp. From the base camp, the enormous Rupal Face of Nanga Parbat rises dramatically above the valley, creating one of the most spectacular mountain landscapes in the world. The Rupal Face is considered one of the highest and most imposing mountain faces on Earth, rising roughly 4,600 metres above the valley floor. It has also played an important role in mountaineering history. In 1970, Reinhold Messner and his brother Günther Messner successfully climbed the Rupal Face and reached the summit of Nanga Parbat. Although we didn't make it all the way to the base camp on this trip, Tarishing gave us an unforgettable opportunity to witness Nanga Parbat from a distance. As daylight was fading, we stopped at a perfect viewpoint and spent almost an hour simply taking in the magnificent mountain scenery. This journey takes us through some of the most remote and breathtaking landscapes of northern Pakistan from the wild beauty of Minimarg and Burzil Pass to Astore, Gorikot, Tarishing and the mighty Nanga Parbat. 📍 PLACES COVERED • Minimarg Valley • Chilam Chowki • Burzil Pass / Burzil Top • Astore Valley • Gorikot • Tarishing Valley • Rupal Valley • Nanga Parbat Rupal Face 🏔️ NANGA PARBAT Elevation: 8,126 m / 26,660 ft World Ranking: 9th Highest Mountain Famous Face: Rupal Face Access: Tarishing → Rupal Valley → Rupal Base Camp If you enjoy Pakistan travel, off-roading, hidden valleys, mountain adventures and cinematic travel films, make sure to Like, Comment and Subscribe to Jeep Journeys for more adventures from the unexplored corners of Pakistan.
