EXPLORING THE NORTHERN RAILS

Shortly after the Northern Explorer ticket was introduced, I decided to hit the tracks and make the most of its unlimited travel on Northern services for the day. My chosen route was from Hebden Bridge to York via Halifax, Leeds and Knaresborough. I loved the picturesque scenery and the characterful, old-style station buildings along this line, so it seemed like the perfect route to start with. I also wanted a Diesel-Only Journey, making this route an especially good choice. I travelled during off-peak hours to avoid the busiest trains, and it worked out very well. I also made some music to accompany the video, which I think goes perfectly with the film — as well as being a great way to eliminate those unwanted station noises, of course!
