We set off from Cape Town in search of something simple — open space, quiet moments, and a slower pace of life. What we found in the Tankwa Karoo was all that and more. Our journey began with a coffee stop at 8 Feet in Riebeek Kasteel, the perfect way to ease into the road ahead. From there, the landscapes stretched wider, the roads grew quieter, and the rhythm of everyday life slowly faded into the background. This vlog captures a weekend of stillness and subtle beauty — early mornings with coffee overlooking endless Karoo views, a relaxed “champagne” breakfast (with South African sparkling wine, of course), and a peaceful walk along the Leopard Trail surrounded by hardy fynbos and wide open skies. We also take a drive along dusty gravel roads to the iconic Tankwa Karoo Padstal — a quirky, must-visit stop in the middle of nowhere — where we enjoy a cold beer and soak up the unique atmosphere. Along the way, we stumble upon one of the Karoo’s more unexpected sights… a mysterious flying saucer installation. Back at the cottage, we unwind in a heated splash pool with a glass of bubbly in hand, watching the light shift across the landscape as the day slowly comes to an end. The Tankwa Karoo is a place that doesn’t shout for attention — it quietly invites you to slow down, breathe, and take it all in.
