專輯小品大多篇幅短小、結構簡單,著重旋律美感,不以炫技為主要目的,並常帶有抒情、懷念或即興的色彩 "12 Album Leaves, Op. 51" is a collection of miniature pieces composed in 1910 by the Russian composer Reinhold Glière. Originally written for cello and piano, it consists of twelve short tracks, each with a distinct character. The work is widely known for its intimate, lyrical, and song-like touch. Each piece possesses an independent personality within a concise form. The collection fully showcases Glière's gift for beautiful melody, as well as the warm and poetic aesthetic of the Russian Romantic style. "Album Leaves" (German: Albumblatt) is a musical term originating from the 19th-century Romantic era, literally meaning "a page from an album." At the time, collecting souvenir albums was popular in Europe, where friends, poets, painters, or musicians would write inscriptions, create drawings, or compose short musical snippets on the pages as gifts for the album's owner. Consequently, many composers wrote concise, intimate piano or instrumental miniatures titled "Album Leaf." Most album leaves are brief in length and simple in structure, emphasizing melodic beauty rather than virtuosity, and often conveying a lyrical, nostalgic, or improvisational quality.
