How can intellectual property translate innovation into market value? Day 6 of the 2026 Guangdong International IP Talent Program explored exactly that—on campus, in the lab, and through Chinese craft. Morning: IP Commercialization Professor Yahong Li of the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, Tongji University, delivered a lecture on “Commercialization of Intellectual Property.” The session covered IP valuation, management, and transactions, and compared commercialization models across patents, trademarks, and copyright. Drawing on Chinese and international practice, Professor Li discussed technology transfer, licensing, contributing IP assets in exchange for equity, and IP financing—giving participants a practical framework for understanding how IP supports the commercial development of innovations. Afternoon: AI, Law & Cultural Heritage Participants visited Peking University’s AI lab at Baidu International Building to explore research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and law, and how AI is being applied in legal research and legal services. At Shenzhen Bay Culture Square, the “Jiangzuo Zhongguo” exhibition of Chinese craftsmanship offered another perspective on innovation—through traditional skills and contemporary interpretations, sparking reflection on craft preservation, creative commercialization, and brand value. Evening: Cantonese Dinner The day concluded with a Cantonese dinner—a relaxed setting for conversation and an introduction to Lingnan culinary traditions.
