The Volendam departing Prince Edward Island and cruising under the Confederation Bridge

Holland America's Volendam departed Prince Edward Island. Many of the guests gathered on the ship's decks to watch as the ship sailed underneath the 8-mile-long Confederation Bridge, which connects Prince Edward Island with the mainland. The bridge is the world's longest bridge that runs over water that freezes in the winter. From our vantage point it looked like the ship just barely fit underneath the bridge, as cars were driving back and forth on it.
