At the heart of Topkapi Palace, the Enderûn was not only a center of elite education and palace service, but also an important environment for musical training and performance. Music of the Enderûn is inspired by the refined court tradition of the 17th century, where highly trained musicians cultivated an intimate and sophisticated musical language within the palace. Tanbur, ney, kanun, kemenche, rebab, oud and soft kudum shape the sound of this track, with restrained usul-based rhythm, modal phrasing and delicate instrumental dialogue. The arrangement remains chamber-like and acoustic, allowing the character of Ottoman court music to remain at the center. TOPKAPI PALACE | 550 Years of Music 10 instrumental chapters tracing the history of Topkapi Palace through music.
