2001-2007 Duramax - Replace Alternator...from a GAS engine?

Mongo working on the 2001 GMC Sierra 3500 Dually. This one got the 6.6L Duramax Diesel engine. Mongo tried to leave house for a job and the diesel no start. Is it bad battery? Mongo get out jump box and truck start but noticed the battery light is on and the jump box only show 11v. Mongo verify with a volt meter and sure enough the alternator is not charging the batteries. NOT GOOD Luckily Mongo got parts in the pile and the 2004 Silverado 1500 with a 5.3L have an alternator that look the exact same so Mongo show you how to swap it out really quick!. Always got to check your RPO codes in the glovebox to verify the type of charger you got. Might be KG3=145amp or K68=105amp. Doth are swapped out the same way but they have different connectors. Release belt tensioner, disconnect 10mm battery cable on alternator, disconnect the low voltage 4 pin connector. remove the 2, 15mm bolts and pry the alternator out. reverse order to reinstall. and YES a 5.3l gas Alternator will fit in on a 6.6L diesel engine. Hopefully this video helps you if you have a 6.6L Duramax and it needs an alternator. OR if you have a car that won't start and you want to know if its a bad battery or a bad alternator.
