I knew the genre, of course, but I honestly had no real idea how or why certain things work the way they do in this kind of music 😄 So at first, I basically trusted the AI completely and just let it do its thing. After several attempts, though, I was never 100% happy with the result. The atmosphere was there and the Synthwave and Dark Synth feeling was there, but something was missing for me personally. It felt a little too relaxed and too far away from the kind of sound I normally enjoy making. So I thought, why not mix a little bit of my own sound into it? Some Nu Metal, heavier guitar riffs, more pressure and more raw energy, while still keeping the Synthwave and Dark Synth character at the heart of the song. And well... It actually turned out pretty damn good ^^ 😄 “Porch Light” starts dreamy, nostalgic and atmospheric, then slowly becomes darker, heavier and more intense until the synths, bass, electronic drums and guitars finally collide. The song itself is built around one simple image. A dark street at night. Almost every house is black. Somewhere in the distance, one porch light is still glowing. That porch light represents the people, music, messages, connections and little moments that can keep us moving through difficult times, often without those people ever knowing how important they were. The darkness does not suddenly disappear. Sometimes you just need one small light in the distance to know where to take the next step. And eventually, maybe you find that one person who feels like home. The person whose light you no longer have to keep walking past. The English and German vocals are part of that idea too. English represents more of what we show the outside world. German slowly becomes the more direct and vulnerable inner voice. By the end, both sides finally exist together.
