Real-Time Evening Drive: Chamonix to Les Contamines-Montjoie | Scenic French Alps Road Trip

Join this beautiful real-time evening drive from Chamonix-Mont-Blanc to Les Contamines-Montjoie, travelling through the spectacular mountain landscapes of the French Alps in Haute-Savoie. The journey begins in Chamonix, beneath the towering peaks and glaciers of the Mont Blanc massif. Leaving the famous Alpine town behind, the route heads southwest through the Chamonix Valley before joining the N205 / Route Blanche toward Saint-Gervais-les-Bains. The drive continues past the Les Houches and Servoz area, descending through a dramatic Alpine valley surrounded by forested mountain slopes and high peaks. Approaching the lower end of the Chamonix Valley, the route continues toward Le Fayet and Saint-Gervais-les-Bains, an important Alpine town located at the entrance to several mountain valleys. From Saint-Gervais, the journey leaves the main highway and follows the D902 – Route des Contamines south into the narrow Val Montjoie. This final section offers a very different driving experience, with a smaller winding Alpine road passing through forests, traditional villages, mountain meadows and increasingly dramatic scenery. The journey finishes in Les Contamines-Montjoie, a picturesque French mountain village surrounded by the peaks of the Mont Blanc massif and located close to the Réserve Naturelle des Contamines-Montjoie.
