Flying home from Hood River, Oregon to Salinas, California. Due to the forecast heat enroute to California, we left Hodd River, Oregon a day early. Our plan was to fly to Redding, California, top off the fuel tanks, and spend the night in Redding. We would then depart in the morning before the temperatures reached the forecast 106 degrees. A massive fire in the Redding area prevented us from landing. We found that Weed Airport was in fuel range, so we did a 180, and flew to Weed for fuel. We then flew through the thick smoke all the way back home. An exciting way to end this adventure through Oregon.
