6 Months Living in a Tiny Polish Village. Here's What Life Is Like | Day 15 of 30 Days of Showing Up

We've now been living in Poland for six months, and I thought it was time to share what everyday life is really like in our little village of Białowieża. Back in January 2025, I left the UK and began a new chapter of my life, spending time in Bolivia and the Brazilian Amazon before arriving in Poland on 19 April 2026. We came here because my partner, Vanesa, had been offered a two-year wildlife research project at the Mammal Research Institute. After some challenging experiences settling into life in the Amazon, we weren't entirely sure what to expect from Poland. But waking up on our first morning, surrounded by the beautiful Białowieża Forest, was something special. And six months later, we're still loving it! In today's video, I'm sharing a little about our everyday life here, from morning walks through the forest and working remotely with UK clients to cycling into the village for shopping and enjoying a much slower pace of life. I also talk about why having a daily routine has become so important to me, particularly when you're self-employed and working from another country. Life here is very different from the busy streets of Santa Cruz in Bolivia, and even from my home village of Mumbles in South Wales. I've spent most of my life living near the coast, so I never expected to feel quite so at home living in a forest! Of course, living abroad isn't always straightforward. There are challenges with visas and residency paperwork, and at the moment I'm unable to leave Poland while my application is being processed. But despite those frustrations, we've found a place where we genuinely enjoy the simple everyday things.
