Hydro Power Plant KOW1 Austria Kopswerk II is a 525MW hydro power project. It is located on Ill river/basin in Vorarlberg, Austria. The project construction commenced in 2004 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2008. Description The project was developed by EnBW Energie Baden-Wurttemberg and Vorarlberger Illwerke. The project is currently owned by Vorarlberger Illwerke. Kopswerk II is a pumped storage project. The gross head of the project is 818m. The penstock length is 1,200m. The penstock diameter is 3.8m. The project generated 614 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $568m. Development status The project construction commenced in 2004 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2008. Contractors involved Andritz Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 3 units of pelton turbines, each with 180MW nameplate capacity.
