On this spiritual journey, I invite you to step into a space of pure stillness with me as I present this deeply personal, intimate live session of "Aarumugam Aarumugam" (Thiruppugazh). This powerful composition is a timeless masterpiece by the legendary poet-saint Arunagirinathar, dedicated entirely to the six-faced Lord Muruga (Karthikeya).
In this rendition, I wanted to strip away all the digital noise and external instruments to bring you a raw, unplugged performance that flows over nothing but a pure, acoustic Tambura.

🏹 The Art of Nindha Stuti (நிந்தா ஸ்துதி) 🏹
What makes Aarumugam Aarumugam so profoundly beautiful to sing is its hidden emotional layer. This piece is a classic example of Nindha Stuti—the unique literary tradition of praising the Divine through apparent blame or sarcasm.
As you listen to the lyrics, you will notice that Saint Arunagirinathar questions and seemingly chides Lord Muruga, asking: "With six sacred faces and twelve powerful arms, what are you actually doing? Why haven't you come to save me yet?" It mimics the sweet, innocent argument a child has with a parent. By questioning the Lord's delay, the poet ultimately highlights Muruga's infinite mercy, showing that the bond between the devotee and the Divine is so close, it transcends formal praise and embraces raw, unfiltered emotion.

The Meaning:
For the devotees who lovingly chant "Aarumugam" (the Six-Faced Lord) and smear the sacred holy ash (Vibhuti), all accumulated karmic sins (Vinai) are instantly dissolved. Lord Muruga, seated majestically on his celestial golden throne, protects and rules over their spiritual state.
To those who yearningly call out "Erumayil" (the One who rides the majestic peacock), He merges completely into their very soul as a single, unified light. He playfully resides within the life-breath of his devotees—He is our protector, the supreme Lord of the Palani Malai, Swaminathan.
