Turn a basic T-shirt into a lace-trim mini dress—no sewing pattern needed! In this step-by-step upcycling tutorial, I’ll show you how to reshape a T-shirt, reuse the sleeves as side panels, create an asymmetric high-low hem, add lace trim, and make adjustable tie straps from jersey bias tape. You can adjust the measurements and strap placement to fit your body and preferred dress length. I used an XS T-shirt, which is my usual size, but it has a slightly oversized fit. MEASUREMENTS USED: • Back: 14 cm (5.5 in) longer than the front • Top of each side seam: 8–9 cm (3–3.5 in) • Straps: 4 × 60 cm (24 in) MATERIALS & TOOLS: • 1 basic T-shirt • Wide lace trim • Jersey bias tape / jersey bias binding • Matching thread • Sewing machine • Jersey or ballpoint needle • Fabric scissors • Ruler or measuring tape • Tailor’s chalk or washable fabric marker • Pins or sewing clips If you try this transformation, let me know in the comments!
