Calvary (US) - S/T (Demo 2014)

Calvary's debut demo, a great preliminary effort by this project featuring CF and JW (Grinning Death's Head, Funerary Despair, Masks of Canaan, Fallow Field label), mixing elements of Black Metal and Post-Punk in a very unique way. Perfectly balancing the rawness in Black Metal (mostly present in the first track), with ethereal Post-Punk melancholy, with dragging, contemplative riffing and brilliant clean vocals. Definitely a formula that would be perfected later on with the amazing "Shadow of the Cross" demo and split with Brånd, and I'm glad they decided to go with a cleaner, more graceful production, this debut is definitely one not to pass however, with some really great tracks already, particularly the second and third ones.
