Don’t wait for a data center proposal to come to town! Over 50 New Jersey municipalities have passed bans on data centers. Is your town on the list? With no real leadership on this issue coming from Trenton, municipalities are taking action now to protect themselves from the impacts that data centers would have on their energy and water supplies. We will share practical steps that you can take as a citizen to move your elected officials to take action on this urgent issue. In addition to municipal bans, we need to go a step further and reiterate to the Governor of New Jersey why we need a statewide moratorium on data centers. Individual towns can send a message to the Governor by adopting resolutions calling for a statewide moratorium on data centers. New York has one, and Pennsylvania is making progress towards one. Even Texas has an effective ban until they can get the power situation sorted out. New Jersey can and must do better for its people and environment.
