One of my salon’s biggest earners was becoming increasingly influentialtaking control of meetings, growing closer to the team and behaving in ways that made me uneasy. Then I saw a client’s name appear on her phone. I noticed the warning signs, but she was popular, talented and important to the business. I was frightened of what might happen if I confronted her. Eventually, she left, contacted clients and tried to take members of the team with her. It hurt, but the hardest lesson was admitting that fear had stopped me from leading my salon.
