Delhi Police ACP Vivek Bhagat has been promoted to the rank of Additional DCP alongside 11 other officers, sparking massive outrage as the decision comes right after three female journalists accused senior police personnel of sexual harassment during protests at Jantar Mantar. While Delhi Police stated that the promotion was part of a routine administrative process initiated earlier and transferred the harassment complaints to the Crime Branch for a fair investigation, journalists and opposition voices including Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das have questioned the timing, demanding an immediate FIR and suspension of the accused officer.
