Camino Francés Day 33: Down from O Cebreiro to Triacastela

Stage 33 of the Camino Francés! Leaving O Cebreiro we took the Complementario, the alternative route up behind the pilgrim hostel on a dirt track and over the hill, rather than the main path beside the road. It drops back down to rejoin the Camino at Liñares. We did this as it apparently a much nicer route to take. From there we followed the ridge over Alto de San Roque, past the giant bronze pilgrim leaning into the wind, then on through Hospital da Condesa and up to Alto do Poio (1,335 m, the highest point of the Camino in Galicia). Then it was high and open to Fonfría, and down, down, down through O Biduedo and Fillobal to Ramil, where a chestnut tree around 800 years old stands beside the path. Then into Triacastela. That's 21.1 k's for the day, with around 900 m of descent. Tough on the knees! We're now 132 k's from Santiago. Tomorrow it's on to Sarria, via San Xil and Furela.
