Tami Simon asks Lee Harris how he, as a person rather than a channel, experiences what he calls the rise of light. Through contrast, he says. Like everyone, he has watched the last six years, the waves of things most of us do not want on the planet, losses of rights and freedoms and hope, a collapsing of what many people believed to be true. And yet within that breaking, he sees more people being activated inside themselves. Not everyone shares the same beliefs about spirituality or about how to be a good human. But he has been a student of this since he was sixteen, thirty-four years now, and he has never seen it more needed or more people being pushed toward it. A close friend gave him a line over dinner, drawn from Buddhist philosophy, that he returns to whenever he loses his balance. Whether we are headed for heaven or the apocalypse, the job is the same: to be an ambassador of consciousness, or light, or love, or whatever you understand yourself to be here for. No matter what is happening on Earth, do you know what feels true to you and what you are here to stand for? His answer is always yes. Tami picks up on his word pushed, and he explains it in two halves. On the human level, outside events force people to stand up. He has watched people he knows use their skills to advocate for others when a situation demanded it, and having lived through several wildfires and other emergencies himself, he has seen how the worst moments bring out the best in people. On the spiritual level, his guides, the Z's, speak of a rise of consciousness on Earth that everyone is feeling and everyone is part of, which they describe in terms not everyone relates to, including the idea that humanity is becoming aware of a larger nature than its earthbound one. Whatever the explanation, he says, there are days when you feel off for no reason and then discover four friends feel the same. The ground beneath us feels shaken, and the balance people used to hold gets disrupted. But the end of that process is a deeper sense of yourself. Your identity, your role, your job, your possessions are emblems of the life you are living, not the life itself, and most of us were only ever taught to focus on the emblems. It is a chaotic time, he says, and a powerful one, for a great many people who are waking up to feeling that they need to do something different, or be something different, or simply that they are different, even if they cannot yet say why.
