Two mornings, two trips to the scrapyard, and plenty of recycling along the way! We start with a trailer full of scrap metal, electric motors, and aluminum motors. After unloading 1,280 pounds of tin and sorting out the other materials, the first trip brings in $78.15. On the drive home, I come across more roadside finds, including an engine block, a water heater, and a few other things that will eventually make their way to the scrapyard. Saturday morning, we're back at it! This time I'm bringing in more scrap metal, copper-bearing wire, Christmas lights, and batteries. The second trip brings in $136.80, along with an interesting conversation at the yard about getting better prices for different materials. I also received my first $100 bill from the scrapyard! It's not just about the money. I enjoy the work, the things I find, and the relationships I build along the way.
