After arriving in Perth from a long journey across Australia from Norfolk Island via Brisbane, it was straight onto an early morning departure heading north into the Pilbara for my first visit to this famous mining region. As the sun rises we climb out of Perth and head over the vast landscapes of Western Australia. Along the way there are incredible views from the window with scattered clouds casting shadows across the red Pilbara terrain before our approach and landing into Newman. This Airbus A320 previously operated with Jetstar and now flies with QantasLink on FIFO routes connecting Perth with mining towns throughout the Pilbara.
