Storm Anchoring, a Sick Cat, a Charter Boat Disaster and the Best Anchorage — Sailing Croatia ⛵⚡🐱

#Malo42 #SailingCroatia #Liveaboard Hi everyone! 👋 This week aboard GoodGirl we have storms, a wounded Captain, a charter boat rescue, and one of the most beautiful anchorages we have ever dropped the hook in. Real sailing life in all its glory. ⛵⚡🐱🌊 We leave the Kornati on a lovely downwind sail — until the wind disappears entirely, as per the Croatian forecast which we have come to trust approximately 50% of the time with a generous plus or minus 10 knot variance. 😄💨 We arrive at Tisno under genoa only, anchoring in 5 to 6 metres over a solid sandy bottom just ahead of an incoming storm front. ⚓ While waiting we are treated to the sight of a beautifully restored traditional wooden Gajeta sailboat enjoying the breeze — her single sail design absolutely charming. ⛵✨ That evening we head ashore for dinner at a well reviewed local restaurant — watching the storm front build ominously overhead — before running back to GoodGirl as the sky darkened dramatically. ⚡🍷 The lightning and thunder show that followed was spectacular, and despite 16 to 20 knots of wind the anchorage held beautifully and we slept like logs. 😄🌩️ Marina Jezera turned out to be possibly the nicest marina we have visited so far — wonderful neighbours, a charming village, and a genuinely warm welcoming atmosphere. 💙⚓ But it was here that we noticed something worrying — Gastone had a small wound on his back right thigh near his tail. 🐱😟 After some debate we concluded a wasp sting was the likely culprit, with the subsequent licking having made things worse. We fitted the cone of shame immediately, cleaned the wound with disinfectant and started antibiotics. 🩺💊 The local vet in Vodice received our message and photos — and was never heard from again. 😅 So we took matters into our own hands. Entertainment arrived the following day when a charter boat managed to wrap its propeller around a mooring line — instant marina theatre. 🎬😂 One brave guest jumped in to cut the line free while neighbouring crews rallied together to pull the boat safely into its berth. Croatian marina solidarity at its finest. 💙👏 We sailed to Vodice anyway to get Gastone properly checked — because when you start googling symptoms things can get very dark very quickly. 😄🔍 The city itself turned out to be a large and busy tourist destination — beautiful but perhaps a little too lively for our taste — so we moved on after a day. 🏖️ And then we found it. Uvala Vela Nozdra on the island of Kaprije. 💙🏝️ Crystal clear water, excellent holding, a short hike to a village with a supermarket and restaurants on the other side, stunning views over a couple of small islands and the mainland, and the most beautiful ancient stone walls built by the farmers who once worked this land. 🌿🪨 We stayed for nearly a week.
