He Was Swimming for His Life in Lake Eppalock! | Bearded Dragon Rescue

Jas the Big Bear and I head to the “blue collar” end of Lake Eppalock — Twin Rivers — to get away from the school holiday crowds and hopefully find ourselves a Murray cod or two. The cod weren't playing ball, but we still managed to put a bag of fat redfin in the boat for the table. But the real highlight of the day came completely out of the blue… While cruising across the Metcalfe Pool, we spotted something swimming right in the middle of the lake. It turned out to be a beautiful Australian bearded dragon — a long way from where any bearded dragon would want to be! He was in serious trouble. There was danger lurking below in the form of a rampant Murray cod, while a hungry whistling kite was keeping a close eye on things from above. So we decided it was time for a rescue mission. We got him safely back into the boat, relocated him to the shoreline and gave him a chance to dry off, warm up and hopefully get back to doing what bearded dragons do best. No Murray cod for us this trip, but sometimes the best part of fishing has absolutely nothing to do with catching fish.
