Shadowbox with me. Jabs only. Follow along and clean up your jab while your other hand stays home. This is a follow-along shadowboxing round. No bag. No partner. Just you and me. Grab a little space, get in your stance, and throw with me. We are keeping it simple and getting it right. The setup: Take a sock or a spare hand wrap and put it in your opposite hand, the non-jabbing hand. Tuck it under that elbow. Hold it as lightly as possible. Do not squeeze. Do not clamp down. Your elbow is just keeping it there. Thumb stays by your eyebrow. That hand is home. Do not let it drop. If that wrap or sock falls, pick it back up and put it back under your elbow What we are working on the jab: Use your legs. The punch starts at the floor, not in your arm. Step and slide forward. Lead foot first, back foot follows. Do not cross your feet. Keep 60% of your weight on your back foot and 40% on the front foot at all times Turn the shoulder over. That shoulder is a shield. It covers your chin while the jab is out. Do not hyperextend the elbow. Keep a little bend. Snap it, then bring it back. Breathe the whole round. Do not hold your breath. Every jab gets a breath. If you stop breathing, you get tight, your shoulders creep up, and the jab turns into an arm punch. Relax constantly. Light on the wrap. Thumb by the eyebrow. Soft in the shoulders. Tight only at the snap, then let it go. This is not cardio dancing. This is not throwing as hard as you can. This is mechanics. One punch. Clean reps. Other hand glued to home the whole round. How to use this video: Follow along with me in real time Use a mirror if you have one Hold that wrap as lightly as you can Keep breathing, keep relaxing If the wrap drops, pick it up and start that round over Beginners, stay slow and keep the jab honest Intermediate and advanced, keep the same rules and add your own rhythm in the gaps Southpaw, reverse it.
