For our very first adventure, we took a chilling 2 AM drive through the pitch-black Nilgiris forest (Mettupalayam to Ooty via Kotagiri), and what our cameras caught in the dead of night was absolutely unbelievable. Embark on a thrilling midnight safari journey through the dense canopy of the Nilgiris mountains. Driving through remote ghat roads in the middle of the night, the sudden temperature drop brought out some of the most elusive nocturnal wildlife in the Western Ghats. In this episode, we encounter massive Indian Gaurs (Bison) standing right by the narrow road, a phantom-like Sloth Bear vanishing into the dark, wild porcupines roaming near residential borders, and majestic Sambar deer. But the ultimate highlight of the night was spotting a mysterious feline with striking rosette patterns crossing our headlights—was it a rare Leopard Cat or a young cub? Minutes later, a full-grown adult leopard was spotted prowling just outside local village homes!
