How do I remove bitterness from karela? Add 1 tsp salt to the sliced karela, mix gently and keep aside for a few minutes. Then wash it with water 2 to 3 times without pressing or squeezing hard. This removes the bitterness naturally. Q2. Why should I not press the karela while washing? Pressing releases more bitter juice back into the karela flesh. Always wash gently with fingers to rinse off only the surface bitterness drawn out by the salt. Q3. Is boiling the karela necessary? No! In this recipe, we skip boiling and cook the karela directly on a low flame. Slicing it thin ensures it cooks through quickly and retains more flavour. Q4. Can I store the special masala blend? Yes! The special masala made with peanuts, sesame, fennel, garlic, and spices can be stored in an airtight container and used later for other shaaks too. Q5. Why is jaggery added? Jaggery balances the bitterness with a natural sweet-sour flavour. Add it at the end and do not overcook after adding jaggery — it can make the gravy oily. Q6. Can children eat this? Absolutely! When made with this method, even young children enjoy it. The combination of jaggery and lemon removes any remaining bitterness. --- #️⃣ Hashtags #KarelaDungaliNuShaak #KathiyawadiSwad #GujaratiRecipe #KarelaNuShaak #BitterGourdRecipe #GujaratiShaak #BhavanaBenRathod #KathiyawadiRecipe #ShaakRecipe #BitterGourdWithoutBitterness #GujaratiFood #IndianVegetarianRecipe #HomeCooking #EasyRecipe #HealthyIndianFood #KarelaRecipe #DungaliNuShaak #NoBoilKarela #GujaratiKitchen #DesiFoodLovers __________________________________ Join this channel to get access to perks:    / @kathiyawadiswad   For any business enquiries you may email us at : teamkathiyawadiswad@gmail.com Please do like share and subscribe to our channel for more videos.
