America is building a 200 MPH high-speed train that could make the Los Angeles to Las Vegas drive obsolete. Brightline West will run about 218 miles through the Mojave Desert, right down the middle of Interstate 15, with a trip of about 2 hours and 10 minutes. Its American Pioneer 220 trains are set to be built in America's first factory of its kind in New York. But the cost has jumped to about $21.5 billion, a $6 billion federal loan is pending, and the parent company just filed for Chapter 11. Here's what they're really building, and the honest truth about the money.
