Drift off to sleep as Eve gently whispers the story of Hour Eight: The Ten Doors, where the boat of the sun is towed past ten closed caverns, and Ra calls each sleeper by name as he goes by.
🌙 ABOUT THIS EPISODE
In the eighth hour the river is thin and level, and eight gods tow the boat of Ra along a quiet channel through the place where the gods are laid to rest. Behind each of the ten doors sit those who rest, each on a folded cloth of new white linen, and when Ra calls they answer with the sound of bees, of mourning, of cattle coming home, of birds waking in the reeds. Four rams of the deep earth greet him, Nun the deep water sees the boat on its way, and the soul of King Thutmose III learns that no name is ever forgotten in the dark. A gentle, tender hour about remembrance, belonging and being called home.
📜 THE TWELVE HOURS OF RA
Each night, the sun god Ra sails through the Duat, the Egyptian underworld, facing twelve hours of darkness before being reborn at dawn. This series follows him hour by hour, based on the ancient Egyptian Book of the Amduat.
