Lake 22 is one of Washington’s most beautiful alpine lake hikes, located in the Mount Baker–Snoqualmie National Forest near Granite Falls. This trail is a 5.4-mile roundtrip hike with an elevation gain of about 1,350 feet, making it a moderate but steady climb through lush Pacific Northwest forest. The terrain is a mix of well-maintained dirt trail, wooden boardwalks over wet areas, and rocky, root-filled sections as you gain elevation. Expect dense evergreen forest, moss-covered trees, and occasional stream crossings before reaching the alpine lake basin. Lake 22 gets its name from its location in Section 22 of the Public Land Survey System, a grid system historically used to divide land in the United States. Despite the simple name, the destination is anything but ordinary—at the top, you’re rewarded with a glacially fed alpine lake surrounded by steep, rugged cliffs and often lingering snowfields well into the warmer months. A classic Washington hike with rainforest vibes, waterfalls along the way, and a stunning alpine lake at the end. 📍 This video was filmed in August 2025. #Lake22 #HikingWashington #PNWHiking
